Santo Domingo, DR — The Dominican Republic closed 2025 with a major economic milestone: national exports reached USD 14.6452 billion, the highest level on record. This represents year-over-year growth of 13.4%, or USD 1.7312 billion more than in 2024. The figures were released by Centro de Exportación e Inversión de la República Dominicana (ProDominicana), which attributed the performance to a sustained strategy of export diversification and international promotion.
Executive Director Biviana Riveiro underscored that the record was achieved amid a challenging global environment marked by geopolitical tensions and tighter trade conditions. “These results demonstrate the adaptability of the Dominican productive sector and the effectiveness of public policies aimed at strengthening export competitiveness,” she said.
Riveiro explained that progress under the National Export Promotion Plan—with more than 93% of its actions implemented—was critical in expanding the country’s international footprint. In 2025, exports grew to over 85 destinations, consolidating an unprecedented geographic expansion.
India led market dynamism with an increase of USD 926.3 million (+135.2%), driven primarily by higher shipments of raw gold. Canada followed with growth of 308.1% (+USD 571.9 million), while Haiti recorded an increase of 33.7% (+USD 303.4 million). The United States, the Dominican Republic’s main trading partner, posted 3.1% growth, while other markets such as Colombia, Cuba, and Brazil also saw notable gains.
Exports to the European Union rose 18.6%, led by Belgium, the Netherlands, and Italy, confirming Europe’s consolidation as a strategic destination for Dominican exports.
From a sectoral standpoint, growth was supported by more than 1,467 tariff lines, with raw gold at the forefront, totaling USD 2.3832 billion. Excluding gold, exports still expanded 6.9%, pointing to a more diversified performance. Products such as cocoa beans, unprocessed tobacco, bananas, coffee, medical supplies, and plastics posted meaningful increases.
The agricultural sector reached a historic record of USD 3.5968 billion, growing 10.1% year over year and 55.1% compared to 2019, confirming its post-pandemic recovery and expansion. Free trade zones also hit an all-time high of USD 8.6046 billion, while exports under the national regime grew 36.8%.
The exporter base expanded significantly: 4,429 companies participated in exports in 2025—632 more than the previous year. “The Dominican Republic is not only competing; it is moving forward decisively in international markets,” Riveiro concluded, reaffirming ProDominicana’s commitment to positioning exports as a central engine of national economic development.
