Lea en español: 15 artistas dominicanos del Top 25 de ESENDOM que debes conocer: Ozuna

From Santiago’s mountain tops to the corners of The Bronx, Dominican music has produced artists that have marked generations, challenged genres, and conquered global stages. At ESENDOM, we celebrate the cultural power of our music with a special list: “15 Dominican Artists from ESENDOM’s Top 25 That You Should Know”—a selection curated with both heart and musical insight, where each name represents not only talent, but history, identity, and legacy.

Our list is based on ESENDOM’s Top 25, a list we publish weekly featuring the hottest songs in the music scene.

Over the coming days, we will reveal one by one the names that make up this list, with in-depth profiles that honor their trajectory, impact, and cultural relevance. This is not a ranking; it is a living tribute.

We continue our list with Ozuna.

🎤 Today we present the ninth of our fifteen: Ozuna: The Melodic Ambassador Who Brought the Caribbean to the Throne of Global Music.

In San Juan, Puerto Rico— where Caribbean musical traditions meet urban modernity, and dreams of greatness take flight —a child was born on March 13, 1992, destined to redefine the boundaries of global reggaetón. Juan Carlos Ozuna Rosado, whose father is of Dominican descent, represents more than a musical phenomenon; he embodies the perfect fusion of Caribbean roots and global vision, proving that authenticity and commercial success can coexist in harmony.

Raised in a family shaped by early adversity, he developed the resilient character that would come to define his career. The loss of his father at the age of three and his upbringing by the unconditional love of his mother and maternal grandmother did not break his spirit; they strengthened it—transforming pain into the creative fuel behind future compositions rich in genuine emotion.

By age 12, when he began writing songs and envisioning himself on international stages, he already showed an artistic vision that transcended traditional geographic limitations. His musical proposal—blending reggaetón, Latin trap, and urban ballads with uplifting messages—challenged stereotypes within the urban genre, positioning him as one of the most successful artists of his generation.

Ozuna has been recognized by several music award bodies, including the Billboard Latin Music Awards and Premios Juventud.

Ozuna’s breakout moment came in 2015 with “Si tu marido no te quiere,” a track that went beyond viral success to become a generational anthem. A wave of hits followed—“Dile que tú me quieres” and “Tu foto”—confirming that this was no fluke, but rather the rise of a defining voice in Latin urban music.

His debut album Odisea (2017) did not just break records for time spent on the Billboard charts—it established a new standard for what a Caribbean urban artist could achieve on the global stage. Subsequent releases—Aura (2018), Nibiru (2019), ENOC (2020), Ozutochi (2022), Cosmo (2023), and Herbalario (2025)—reinforced his status as an international superstar able to reinvent himself without losing his essence.

Ozuna’s collaborations with titans like Daddy Yankee, Bad Bunny, Rosalía, J Balvin, Romeo Santos, and Anuel AA prove that true talent transcends rivalry, creating artistic synergy that elevates the entire genre. His Hollywood appearance in Fast & Furious 9 symbolized the definitive arrival of Latino artists in spaces historically closed to them.

His philanthropic work through Odisea Children, an initiative focused on improving the lives of vulnerable children in Latin America and the Caribbean, reflects his understanding that real success is measured not just in personal achievements, but in the ability to positively impact one’s community.

Ozuna represents the triumph of a new generation of Dominican-Puerto Rican artists who have shown that Caribbean talent knows no geographic or cultural boundaries. With every composition, he reaffirms that authentic music—when combined with global vision and relentless work—can conquer any world stage while honoring the roots from which it was born.
