Drake's double album, Scorpion, dropped on June 29. The album debuted at number 1, in part due to the success of hit songs including "God's Plan" and "In My Feelings." In the first two weeks of release, Scorpion has been the top-selling album in the United States. However, Drake credits the success of the album and song "In My Feelings" to comedian Shiggy, who posted an Instagram video of himself dancing to the hit single, which currently sits at number 1 in Billboard's Hot 100 and Hot Rap Songs, respectively. In fact, via an Instagram video, Drake admits that Shiggy helped him reach number one, noting: "Oh my goodness...got me a number one record today."
Today’s artists are defying gravity to make music and dance more (literally) dangerous and exciting. However, it should be noted that neither Drake nor Shiggy jumped out of a moving vehicle, which is a dangerous act.
The Ke Ke Challenge or Shiggy Dance comprises of someone driving a car, stepping out of the moving vehicle while a front-seat passenger continues to steer the vehicle, the original driver dances in the street while keeping pace with the car and finally jumps back into the vehicle. However, many individuals have failed!
Authorities in different countries are asking citizens not to attempt the Ke Ke Challenge, a song that makes people dare to do things they normally would not do. Authorities in Spain, for instance, are urging people to refrain from participating in the Ke Ke Challenge. In Beirut, the Internal Security Forces warned drivers from partaking in the Challenge. Authorities throughout the Middle East have also issued warnings and penalties to drivers participating in the challenge, threatening them with fines and imprisonment.
Like Luis Fonsi and Daddy Yankee's hit song, "Despacito," "In My Feelings" is a song that crosses borders, yet it is not for the same reason. "Despacito" was an international sensation that became the top song last year due to its genius construction (melody, rapping, lyrics, etc). "In My Feelings," however, is a hit due to the dangerous Ke Ke Challenge, which has manifested into people jumping in and out of a moving vehicle while dancing in the streets.
According to several sources, Drake is currently shooting the music video for “In My Feelings.”
