Lea en español: El Bronx se viste de tricolor en la 36.ª Gran Parada Dominicana
🗽 THE BRONX, NEW YORK – Neither the rain nor heat prevented tens of thousands of Dominicans from filling Grand Concourse Avenue this Sunday to celebrate the 36th edition of The Bronx Dominican Day Parade in The Bronx, one of the most iconic cultural events of the Dominican diaspora in the United States.
🔹 Key Highlights:
🎉 Cultural Celebration: The parade, starting at 11 a.m., stretched from 181st to 165th Street, featuring over 22 floats, dance troupes, live music, and crowds waving Dominican flags throughout the route.
👥 Pride and Future: Director Felipe Febles emphasized the strong youth participation as a symbol of the Dominican community's present vitality and future prospects abroad.
🎶 Living Heritage: Merengue, bachata, dembow, and traditional rhythms filled the streets through performances by groups including Los Faraones de Santiago, La Comparsa de la Risa, and Los Tuareg.
🤝 Official Recognition: Notable attendees included Mayor Eric Adams, Attorney General Letitia James, and Congressman Adriano Espaillat. Media personality Jenny Blanco described the experience as "extraordinary."
📉 Mixed Attendance: While participation remained strong, some outlets reported reduced turnout due to immigration concerns following recent ICE enforcement operations.
The Dominican community, which represents the majority population in the Bronx with over 500,000 residents, reinforced its position as a cultural and social powerhouse, with representation across all sectors: from shop owners and artists to civic leaders and public servants.
"We're here not just to celebrate, but to remember who we are and where we come from," expressed a father as his daughter waved the tricolor flag.
📌 The Bronx Grand Dominican Parade transcends a simple march: it stands as a collective statement of pride, heritage, resilience, and joy that, year after year, strengthens Dominican identity on foreign soil.
