Caramelo Makes History as First Dominican Winner of La Casa de los Famosos

Carlos Antonio Cruz, better known as 'Caramelo', made history by becoming the first man and first Dominican to win La Casa de los Famosos in its All-Stars edition (fifth season). Until then, previous editions had crowned Alicia Machado, Ivonne Montero, Madison Anderson, and Maripily Rivera, respectively. He was also the first Dominican to win, as previous Dominican participants included Juan Vidal (2nd season, 8th place), Yameiry Infante 'La Materialista' (3rd season, 4th place), and José Reyes (4th season, 8th place).
His triumph wasn't easy. From the first weeks, he had to prove his loyalty, navigate the ups and downs of his relationship with Manelyk, and endure the breakup of the trio known as "Los Tres Mosqueteros" or “The Three Muskateers” (Niurka Marcos, Rey Grupero, and himself). However, his authenticity, sense of humor, and humility made him a public favorite. Dominicans in New York, Puerto Ricans from the island, and Latinos from all over joined forces to support him until the end, leading him to win the $250,000 prize. This Casa de los Famosos 2025 victory marked a milestone for Dominican representation in Latino reality television.
Amaya Elizabeth Espinal Conquers Love Island USA Season 7

Amaya entered the show in the fourth episode and quickly generated controversy by kissing a committed contestant, unleashing tensions within the villa. But her authenticity, sincerity, and ability to overcome criticism won over the public, who dubbed her 'La Princesa del Pueblo' (The People's Princess). With the title, she received $100,000 and the opportunity to officially represent the Latino community at Miss Universe 2025 in Thailand. This Telemundo reality show victory showcases Dominican beauty and intelligence on the international stage.
Of the 30 original contestants, five were Dominican. Yamilex, originally from Perth Amboy, New Jersey, was the only one who managed to reach the top. The path wasn't easy: she competed with other talented Dominicans like Erika Marchena (Florida), Erelly Martínez (New Jersey), Skarxi Marte (New York), one of the favorites eliminated just before semifinals, and Gemmy Quelliz (New York), who finished as second runner-up.
With elegance, charisma, and beauty that overflowed the screen, Yamilex climbed positions until becoming the public's favorite and earning absolute support from the jury. Her triumph also symbolized persistence: she had previously participated in Miss República Dominicana in 2021 and 2023, placing as second and first runner-up. For her, the third time was the charm in this Dominican beauty pageant success story.
