Since our inception in 2009 we have been a loud voice of a malady of the Dominican society, that is violence against women and domestic violence as a whole. In ESENDOM, we have always published articles of examples of this happening in the Dominican Republic and abroad. It is a cultural issue since unfortunately many Dominican men still think that women are their property, especially if they have procreated with them. Unfortunately there has to be a change in the how it is dealt with, starting with the the law that is too flexible allowing for the repeat of such actions and ending with education to mold a younger generation of men to respect women and a generation of women that also respect men.

On the eve of the month where the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, the 25th of November, ESENDOM highlights on this Throwback Thursday (Tbt) an article from 2017 of the celebration of the Brides’ March. We do this to continue to shed light to a problem that has been a black eye on the Dominican society as a whole and needs to find resolution immediately in order to stop the cycle that is plaguing it. #STOPViolenceAgainstWomen #NoExcuse
