Miguel Tejada rose from poverty in Baní, Dominican Republic, to become one of the most productive shortstops of his generation. Known as “La Guagua,” Tejada won the 2002 American League MVP Award, collected 2,407 hits and 307 home runs, accumulated 47 career WAR, and played an extraordinary 1,152 consecutive games.
